However, I'm getting tired of it's weight, and the glass on the screen keeps falling off (it's hilarious but also frustrating and a LONG LONG story).
Essentially, I need a new machine, as my laptop is a great desktop. No working Bluetooth, Wifi antenna keeps disconnecting, can't find a battery that can't hold a charge (even new ones), and some of the keys melted when I changed the screen glass when it first broke. I spent around $2.5k total in it's life time, and for 9 years, that's a great investment. Now I want to get a new machine, but I'm conflicted. I have money saved up for either a 15" 2015 or a 13" 2018. I mostly use it for administrative work in the office, and occassionally I do graphic work, mostly photography.
FONTBASE STUDENT DISCOUNT SOFTWARE
I'd switch to a Windows machine, but the Adobe software I have was before it went all cloud, so I won't be paying any subscription fees for the occasional photo edit/scan. Even at the student tier, that's still around $200 a year. I'm looking to buy a machine for at least another 3-4 years, which is why I am hesitant about the 2015. With FontBase, you can create font collections for different projects or font types. It is easy to import new fonts, using a drag and drop method. It's already 3 years old, and I'm not sure how the i5 would stand up for another 3 years. It is very responsive and does not lag when moving between functions. The extra screen real estate would be nice, but at home I use an extra monitor, and I'm becoming a fan of the compact size.
